First Munich New Space Summit Set for May, Will Explore the New Space Transformation

In May, leading experts in New Space will gather for the Munich New Space Summit 2023, where established companies, government organizations, research institutions, start-ups and investors will discuss how to transform New Space regionally, nationally and across Europe. This is the first time leaders from this field will meet in Munich.

The conference, organized by Munich Aerospace and supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy & the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI), will be held from May 15 to 17 at the Ludwig Bölkow Campus in Taufkirchen.

The various opportunities and challenges New Space represents will be highlighted during lectures, roundtables and exchange sessions. Attendees also can visit an exhibition area and attend the first Munich New Space Night for networking opportunities. There will be a Bavarian State reception at the “Residenz” Munich on the first evening of the conference.

Space is “undergoing a profound transformation,” according to the conference website, with private actors “now shaping a global market that has long been driven by public institutions.” During the conference, experts will address the innovations now coming from space and the issues this transformation brings up, including how to finance these ventures, how to translate promising ideas into viable products and services, and how governments can moderate the space transformation.
